Who is Pedro:

  • After finishing his studies in Mechanical Engineering at Valladolid University, he focused his career on the food industry working for Nestlé, starting in 1991. First, as a project engineer, he specialized in Energy and Packaging.
  • From 1999 to 2003 he was engineering manager in Nescafé Girona factory. In the two years that followed he worked as the engineering coordinator in Portugal. Then he returned to Spain and from 2005 to 2013 worked as engineering manager in La Penilla factory, located in Cantabria.
  • Currently he is the Environmental Sustainability Specialist for Nestle Spain. In this role, he has developed the Strategic Environmental Master Plan for Nestle Spain.


Dr. Ana Rescek, Technical Packaging Engineer, Global Own Brand Packaging at METRO AG







Who is Ana:

  • Ana obtained a PhD degree from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology, University of Zagreb in Croatia, for her work in the field of Polymer Materials and Active Food Packaging. She has 13 years’ experience in academia and industry mainly in the field of polymers and packaging materials.
  • In Adria’s region leader in meat products and fresh meat, she was in charge of packaging and packaging material development.
  • Since 2017 she is working in METRO AG in Düsseldorf, Germany, on development and implementation of innovative and sustainable packaging materials for common sourced Own Brand products and providing packaging support to the countries to achieve packaging commitments and move towards more sustainable packaging solutions.


Ms Emma Hellqvist, Brand owner manager at BillerudKorsnäs






Who is Emma:

  • Studied industrial management engineering with environmental profile at Karlstad University.
  • Started as a Business development trainee at BillerudKorsnäs in 2016, after that I worked as an Account executive for our strong and stretchable paper FibreForm. Now I work as a Brand owner manager where I help brand owners, retailer and co-anufacturers to move to more sustainable packaging solutions.


Ms Elena Fernández Santos, QESH Director, Coca-Cola European Partners Iberia






Who is Elena:

  • Elena Fernández Santos has been part of the Coca-Cola System since 2001, in which she has held different positions. She is currently the Director of QESH at Coca-Cola European Partners Iberia, a position she has held since 2016 and from which she is responsible for landing quality, environment, safety and PRL policies to the entire supply chain in Iberia.
  • She has previously been responsible for Market Quality and Quality and Environment. She started her career at Chocolates Lacasa as the Quality and PRL Manager.
  • She has a degree in Biology, she has an MBA from the Asturias Business School, a Master in Quality Management from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and another in Environmental Management from the Asturias Chamber of Commerce.


Mr Stefan Barot, CEO of BIOTEC Biologische Naturverpackungen GmbH & Co. KG







Who is Stefan:

  • Stefan is a seasoned business leader with working exposure to pharmaceuticals, pigments, lubricant- and plastic additives and bioplastics and to environmental protection. He has an extensive international experience working for over 14 years in Asia and the Middle East, acting in various roles in production, quality control, project management and sales and marketing.
  • In the past 10 years Stefan worked in the field of bioplastics joining Biotec in the middle of 2020 as CEO. He is a keen proponent of a pragmatic approach to get to more sustainability and a bio-based society using bioplastics where feasible.
  • Stefan has a background in chemistry and an EMBA from IMD in Switzerland, he is married has two almost adult children and lives in Kaarst in Germany.
